Shadow in Serenity
By Terri Blackstock
A Two Hour Feature Film by Best-Selling Author Terri Blackstock
Carny Sullivan knows a con artist when she sees one—and she’s seen plenty. But Logan Brisco is the smoothest, slickest, handsomest man Serenity, Texas has ever seen. From his Italian shoes to his movie-actor smile, he has the town snowed. As far as Carny Sullivan can see, she’s the only one in Serenity who’s got his number.
Carny grew up in the zany world of a traveling carnival. All her life she dreamed of settling in a small town and raising a family, so when she met a man who fit the bill, she married him and moved to his home town. When her husband died in a barroom brawl, the town supported her. Her neighbors have become her family, and she’ll do anything to protect them.
Logan’s proposed plan is to build a multi-million dollar amusement park to rival Disneyland right outside their town, boosting all their businesses and giving them each a cut. He claims he has billionaire investors, but he can’t convince them to build it here unless the town has bought in. The town is suffering from a failing economy, and he hopes they’ll be greedy enough to fall for his story. He’s enough of a charmer to sell Romania, and his marks wouldn’t even ask if it was for sale. He’ll take their “investments,” then skip town before they know what happened. At least, that was the plan before he met Carny and her son.
Logan has spent his life as a pretender, always chasing the next get-rich-quick scheme. His mother died when he was young, and he grew up in a dysfunctional foster home. A kind but shrewd con artist took him under his wing when he was a teen, and showed him the ropes. Now Logan’s always one step ahead of the law, draining people of money he thinks they can stand to lose. Then he hits the road and moves on to the next town.
But he’s met his match with the lovely Carny Sullivan, and he’s grown attached to her young son who looks up to him. When she figures him out and attempts to expose him, he wishes he could change. For the first time in his life, he considers giving up his life of crime to prove he’s the kind of man she deserves. Risking his freedom, he tries to turn his fraudulent scheme into an actual amusement park and set things right with the good people of this town … and with the woman who has charmed the Charmer.

Small town in Texas, Church, House, Small Airport, Hotel Room
Carny Sullivan is in her late twenties. She’s a private pilot who runs a small airport, and she rides a motorcycle. She grew up in a traveling carnival and has spent her life yearning for roots. She loves her son more than life, and will fight for her adopted home town.
Logan Brisco is a con artist who might have been a CEO of a billion dollar company if he’d had a different upbringing. But the only person in his life who showed him love since his mother’s death was a con artist who mentored him. He’s served time in prison for his crimes, but this is the first one since he got out. (So when he makes it right, he doesn’t have to go to jail.)
Jason Sullivan is Carny’s six year old Opey-like son who is starving for a father figure and looks up to Logan, despite Carny’s efforts to keep him away from him.
